Accountants
One of the smartest things you can do is hire an accountant to assist you both with your taxes and with your record-keeping. That’s true no matter how much money you earn, from not very much to a great deal. Either way, learning your own way around tax laws overnight would be like trying to become an astronaut overnight. It is far too complex for the average person to do alone. It’s good to build relationships that last over time, so look to hire your accountant when you first begin working, or at worst when you first prepare to file your first tax return.
Accountants are typically not very expensive. In almost every case, the amount charged to you by the accountant will be made up for, often many times over, by the amount you save in taxes by having a professional prepare your tax return instead of doing it yourself. Accountants file taxes for a wide range of people on a daily basis, they know the current laws and they are well-practiced in being aware of and taking all of the proper credits and deductions for you.
